On Monday June 20th the members of the Pound Ridge Fire Department participated in a multi battalion drill hosted by the South Salem Fire Department. Lead by battalion 13 coordinator David Russel, NYSEG demonstrated "live lines" where members learned what not to do on the scene of a downed power line and how to recognize the potential life hazards. Halstead Quinn Propane with the assistance of demonstrated the hazards first responders may come across in the field. After both utility companies finished up their demonstrations members then moved inside for the firefighter-down-CPR portion of drill and reviewed procedures on how to treat a firefighter who suffered a heart attack while in full personal protective equipment. In total approximately 110 firefighters from 10 different departments where in attendance. We would like to thank South Salem Fire for providing a perfect learning environment. Lastly we would like to thank David Russel for coordinating this Mutial Aid drill where various departments got to work together.
