This past Month Members took to the cold temperature and went swimming. Ice Rescue was the topic taught by Chief Perry and Capt. Dodge. Members left the turnout gear inside and donned cold water rescue suits. Week one had some solid ice which proved beneficial for the members that had not ever done ice rescue before. The next time these operations were preformed was two weeks later where the ice was much thinner. This training experience gave members the real skills of breaking through ice to reach a victim and do it in a calm and timely manner. Many evolutions were preformed and every time members removed the “victim” from the water in under 10 minutes.
