Driver training
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

By Foreman Vincent Zafonte
April 6, 2014

Foreman Vincent Zafonte teaches Firefighter Dan Hollister how to operate Engine 113. All members are encouraged to participate in driver training and become qualified apparatus operators on all 6 pieces of apparatus. Driver training encompasses operation of the engine and all components of the truck such as the pump and onboard generator. As seen in the photos, the first time a new operator gets behind the wheel he is in a closed course. This allows the operator to feel comfortable maneuvering the apparatus without the distractions of commercial traffic. Once Firefighter Hollister completes driver training on each of the 6 pieces of apparatus he will begin the Pump Operator section of the course and will become proficient in supplying water to the hose lines that extinguish fires, cool ruptured tanks and clean up accident scenes.
