| The Fire 1 curriculum, Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations (BEFO), Interior Firefighting Operations (IFO), and Firefighter Survival (FFS), runs over 150 hours of demanding hands-on and classroom training. Christian and Alex tackled it in an accelerated format that packed all of that into a little over a month. What makes it even more impressive is everything they were juggling at the same time. Christian balanced the college coursework while also working full time. Alex is in the middle of a big spring earning both his Fire 1 certification and, in the coming weeks, graduating from high school.
