POUND RIDGE – A 15-year-old Pound Ridge boy had to be rescued from Trinity Lake when he slipped off a rope swing and plunged 60 feet down a rocky precipice Saturday afternoon.

Police say that Cody Terreson and several other companions were trespassing on the property on Knapp and Kitchawan Roads when the accident to place at about 1 p.m.

"He was on the rope swing and I think he kind of panicked and let go," said Pound Ridge Police Sgt. Mike Armistead. "It's a steep mountain cliff and he bounced off the rocks. It was a terrible rescue."

Armistead said the cliff was so steep there was no way for rescue personnel to get Terreson back up the slope. The Pound Ridge Volunteer Fire Department used their boat and cross the lake to the scene of the accident while Pound Ridge Police and Pound Ridge VAC personnel tended to the teen.

"We boarded him at the waterfront and loaded him on the boat and then they took him to shore," Armistead said. "He was conscious the whole time."

Armistead said Terreson suffered a broken femur and multiple contusions. He was transported by the Pound Ridge ambulance to Stamford Hospital in Stamford, Conn.

"It was not your everyday incident in Pound Ridge," Armistead said. "He was very lucky; it could have been a fatal error."

No charges have been filed yet, but Armistead said the incident will be reported to the Aquarion Police and that an investigation is underway.
