| The Pound Ridge Fire Department, jointly with the Pound Ridge Ambulance Corps, Pound Ridge Police and the New York State Police, participated in an OEM drill July 17 simulating a critically injured patient at the Pound Ridge Town Park. Commencing at 1100 hours, a simulated 911 call was received alerting authorities to a critically injured patient. It was determined that, due to the nature of the injuries, it would require a Level I trauma center with rapid transport. The New York State Police helicopter was deemed the most prudent means of transport as determined by the officials on-scene.
Overall the drill was a great success, allowing local authorities to learn, first-hand, the correct procedures for such an event, especially involving a helicopter landing.
Thanks to those who participated (Second Assistant Chief Justin Brent, Lt. James (Sam) Dodge, Firefighters David Andronaco, Justin Friedland, and Peter LeComte). |
